Barkfest

Last night I was awakened by a barkfest. Unlike Los Alamos barkfests, which occur during the day, this barkfest was in the middle of the night. A good Los Alamos barkfest might consist of seven or eight dogs. This one was a chorus of hundreds. If I didn't know better, I'd say there were a few coyotes thrown in. I think Mae Hong Son has more dogs than people. There are no leash laws evident; dogs have run of the roads (this particular guy has the run of Salween Restaurant). Every once in a while, one of them is run over by a motor scooter, but for the most part they have the right-of-way. They're also quite street-wise and know how to get themselves out of the way, usually just in time to avoid disaster.
